Genealogical research regarding the Edward Harris Barrett family of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a descendant of Humphrey Barrett of Concord, Massachusetts, who came to America in 1639 from England (likely County Kent). Edward was born 1818 in Warner, New Hampshire; moved to Christian County, Illinois (1851); pioneered in Utica, Minnesota (1854); Wasioja (1870) and later (1875) moved to Minneapolis. He lived in Idaho and Washington, but returned to Minneapolis where he died in 1907.

William Johnson Barrett, b. 1858 (Son of Edward H Barrett & Charlotte E Ladd)
There seems to be more then one birth date noted for William J. Barrett. His obituary states he was born in November, 1858 Wasojia, Dodge, MN. Other sources state his birth in September of that year. These would be the 1900 census with September, 1858 and the Barrett Bible with September, 1858. Being born in Utica, Winona, MN is a good probability, as his family lived there through the mid 1860’s. They did however move on to Wasojia after leaving Utica. Any one of these sources can be suspect, but a September, 1858 date in Utica seems the most likely.
(Note: The obituary marriage date and wife's death date are accurate, at least according to the on-line Minnesota Marriage and Montana Death indexes.)
